Roam 2010 – Faces To The Falls

This is going to be an eight day UNSUPPORTED ride from the Black Hills of South Dakota to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Please note, the calendar only shows a seven day ride hot linked to this link because that's the maximum number it would let me do, but, this is an eight day ride.  I added the eighth day but it's not hot linked here.  The first day of riding is July 11th beginning in Spearfish, SD.  We end up in Sioux Falls, SD eight days later.

I’m planning on doing an eight day ride as described above.  Here’s the kicker – I’m doing this completely unsupported.  No vehicle hauling my clothes, gear, food, or anything else.  Everything I’ll need I’ll be carrying on my bike.  There will be no SAG support.

You’re more than welcome to join me.  I’m not charging any money for anything.  But, I’m not providing anything, either.  What this means is YOU are responsible for YOU.  This does not mean we can’t help each other on the way or share transportation to the start.  What it does mean is once we start, there’s no stopping until we get back to Sioux Falls eight days later as there is no vehicle following or hauling anything.  This is real bike touring.  Panniers or trailers will be needed.

I’ve driven the tentative route and have a list of hotels and campgrounds.  Sometimes there’s a campsite option, sometimes not.  There are some long stretches between towns without any services.

Listed are each day’s tentative route.  On it you can see where I’m planning on going and what the elevation changes are.  Part of the route has me on the Mickelson Trail.  There will be a few miles of gravel roads.  Generally the route is on paved roads that either have a wide shoulder or low traffic.

Please shoot me an email if you’re interested.  fearlessdiamond69@gmail.com.  I’ll try to answer any questions you have and I can put you on a information email list.

I've got the list of hotels and campsites done.  If you've notified me you're interested in this ride, it's in your inbox.  If you're not on the interested list and want the list of places, shoot me an email fearlessdiamond69@gmail.com.

This year's Roam is complete.  We had a great time riding across the state.

Next year could very well involve Canada in some way, shape, or form.  Find your passport.  This will likely go international next year.
